What every one of them has in common
- A live mains supply is required. Plug-in solar supplements a supply, it never replaces one. A shed with no electricity cannot use one.
- Daytime use is what pays. Generation only becomes savings when something is drawing current at the same moment.
- Heating is beyond it. A 2kW heater will always outrun an 800VA device.
- One device per household — you cannot fit one per building.
- No storage. Surplus is exported, usually for nothing.

- Which buildings suit plug-in solar best?
- Anything with a steady daytime electrical load and a live mains supply. Garden rooms and garden offices are the strongest match, because they are occupied during the hours the panels generate.
- Can plug-in solar power a building on its own?
- No. A plug-in device supplements a mains supply, it does not replace one. It needs a live grid connection to operate at all.
- Does it matter which building I put the panel near?
- For output, what matters is sun and shade, not which building it sits beside. The electricity joins the household circuit and flows to whatever is drawing current.
